A new cell phone tower is being installed on the Reeds Spring School District campus to improve local coverage and strengthen emergency communication. The tower should resolve long-standing service gaps that previously led to dropped calls and delayed text messages for parents, staff, and community members.
“We are excited about the opportunity to enhance connectivity across our campus and improve service for students, staff, families, and the broader community,” said Dr. Shane Dublin, Assistant Superintendent of Operations. “This also provides infrastructure for future community growth.”
Owned and operated by Horvath Communications, the 160-foot tower will initially carry Verizon service and has the capacity to host additional major carriers in the future.
“A stronger signal near the school improves communication in case of emergencies like severe weather or medical incidents,” Dublin said. “It should also improve 911 call reliability and location accuracy on campus and in the surrounding area.”
The Reeds Spring School District believes a safe environment and a sense of safety are essential. District leaders made safety and health top priorities throughout the planning process. The tower is located near the district maintenance facility, positioned away from school buildings. Multiple health organizations have indicated that cell phone towers do not pose negative health effects.
By combining improved network reliability with safety protocols, the district aims to ensure reliable emergency communication and everyday connectivity for students, families, and the Reeds Spring community.
