The Wolf Pack Foundation gave its annual Wolf in the Darkness Award to Jim Holt, a longtime Reeds Spring resident and school employee. The announcement was made at the Reeds Spring School District’s Excellence Award Banquet on May 3.
The Wolf in the Darkness Award is meant for someone who has lived a life of kindness and often makes a big difference in the community without recognition.
“This award isn’t about spotlight or ceremony—it’s about character,” said Foundation Board Member Josh Cherry. “It’s about honoring someone who has consistently made our community better, not for credit or applause, but simply because it’s who they are.”
Holt graduated from Reeds Spring High in 1973 and then became a teacher, principal, and activities director. His impact reached far beyond the school district. He was Master of Ceremonies for the Community Christmas Program for 40 years. He was a founding member of the Rotary Club of Table Rock Lake and served on boards for the Table Rock Lake Community Foundation and John Calvin Presbytery, and even helped found the Wolf Pack Foundation.
“Mr. Holt stands for our history, our memories, and our traditions,” said Reeds Spring Primary School Teacher Callie Lewallen.
The Wolf Pack Foundation also provides a Wolf in the Darkness Scholarship to a student graduating from Reeds Spring High School. The hope is that the student will emulate the life and deeds of the community award winner.
