● You MUST sign up to try out. The link has been shared through social media/canvas/paper handout
● 3:40-5:30 pm at the PS gym
● Athlete must be present on all days (unless they are in another sport and have made arrangements)
● Athlete will be taught several pieces of material and be expected to perform this on the last day of the actual tryout
● Athlete will be required to showcase the required jump (toe touch) and will have the opportunity to showcase any tumbling skills during tryouts
(though tumbling will not be taught at tryouts, nor is it a requirement for tryouts)
● A physical MUST be on file with the middle school office prior to trying out (if you are a returning athlete, you are covered) You can bring the physical with you to the first day of clinic if you are new to sports
● Athletes must get one reference from a teacher, coach, pastor, or employer/volunteer manager
● Should you make the team, there is a mandatory parent meeting on March 27
BRING WITH YOU
● Physical – If you do not have a physical on file with the school office, you need to bring one with you to tryouts. If you do not have a physical on file, you will not be eligible to participate. The “proof of medical insurance” section must be filled out COMPLETELY. If purchasing insurance through the school, be advised – it must be purchased no later than the day before the start of clinics to be effective by the first day of clinics.
● Clothing – see below for shirt colors, wear proper shorts, tennis or cheer shoes, hair up
o Clinic Day 1: Wear red shirt
o Clinic Day 2: Wear white shirt
o Tryout Day 4: Wear Red and White
● Water Bottle
FINANCIAL EXPECTATIONS
● RSMS Cheerleaders are expected to pay out of pocket for several costs. However, we do fundraising and will apply those funds to the amounts below. We do not collect money “in full.” This means that we do offer a payment plan, and we do work hard to make it possible for fundraising. We have 3 different fundraising opportunities to help families with the cost.
All cheerleaders will have a max out-of-pocket of pocket of $350 -this includes clothes, shoes, and camps. I am working to keep this number as low as possible. I will have more exact numbers by the parent meeting.
● Should the athlete make the team, a $150 non-refundable deposit will be collected at our fitting date on March 27
● When the athletes make the team we will have a more complete breakdown of the costs
OTHER EXPECTATIONS
● Athletes must be present at the parent meeting if they make the team: March 27, 2026
● Athletes should expect to attend the summer obligations. Dates are listed on the Summer Dates link. RSMS Cheerleaders must maintain a GPA of 1.8 or higher to be eligible for cheer
● It is expected that athletes will cheer for both football and basketball unless they are participating in an additional sport
● We ARE a competition squad. This is a big commitment. If you only want to cheer on the sideline, please make sure coaches are aware. Competition spots are earned
