A little “seed money” will help Reeds Spring High School expand its garden. RSHS Paraprofessional Crystal Seiler received a $500 grant from the Missouri Retired Teachers Association Foundation.
Seiler will use the money for the special education department’s greenhouse program. The plan is to purchase soil, fertilizer, tools, canning supplies, and kitchen items to grow and preserve crops. This program will give the students real-world employment skills.
“This is a student-led enterprise,” Seiler said. “Our students make all the decisions. I was very excited to receive the grant!”
The Missouri Retired Teachers Association, through its foundation, strives to continue to support classroom teachers and professional staff through its grant program. Seiler’s grant was the only one awarded to a paraprofessional in MRTA's Region 10.
