Philip Dougherty

Each month, the Reeds Spring School District recognizes one exceptional teacher with an Excellence Award. The deserving winner for October is Mr. Philip Dougherty. He’s a social studies teacher at Reeds Spring High School. He’s also the head track and field coach, an assistant football coach, and a Fellowship of Christian Athletes Huddle Leader.

“His passion for teaching and coaching centers on helping students and athletes grow in character, confidence, and perseverance, both in and out of the classroom,” said RSHS Principal Brandon Weldy.

This is Dougherty’s 11th year of teaching at Reeds Spring High School.

“He embodies the very principles he teaches — integrity, civic responsibility, and a deep commitment to the democratic process,” said fellow RSHS teacher Krista Gosch. “Mr. Dougherty brings government to life. His lessons are not only engaging and current, but they also challenge students to think critically about their rights, responsibilities, and roles in a democratic society.”

The district accepts Excellence Award nominations from students, staff, parents, and community members. You can find the nomination form on the district website.
