Every month, the Reeds Spring School District recognizes one exceptional teacher with an Excellence Award. The deserving winner for April is Damon Asbill. He’s a math teacher at Reeds Spring High School, an engineering instructor at Table Rock Career Center, the high school head girl’s basketball coach, and an assistant baseball coach at RSMS.
“Coach Asbill has a rare ability to connect with every student, whether in the classroom or on the court. He makes people feel seen, heard, and valued. That’s what sets him apart,” said Assistant Basketball Coach Paige Tate.
This is Asbill’s 15th year with Reeds Spring Schools. He’s known for making difficult math concepts feel manageable. You’ll often find him leading popular tutoring sessions after school.
“There’s no one better at building relationships with kids than Damon Asbill. You can’t fake the kind of care he shows—our students know he’s in their corner, and that’s why they respond to him the way they do,” said Principal Brandon Weldy.
