A new Missouri state law prohibits students from using or displaying personal electronic devices during the school day.
This includes:
Cell phones
Headphones or wireless earbuds not used for instructional purposes
Any other device that can send, receive, or display messages, images, or data (like smartwatches and tablets)
What does this mean?
All personal devices must be:
✔️ Turned off
✔️ Stored in backpacks
✔️ Kept out of sight for the entire school day
How will this policy be enforced?
If a student’s device is visible or in use during the school day, it will be taken to the office.
Disciplinary actions will follow the student handbook (see Technology Policy F-265-S).
Students who refuse to turn in a device may face additional consequences.
Continued violations could result in losing the privilege of bringing devices to school.
We appreciate your support as we follow this new law to create a focused, distraction-free learning environment.
