A Press Release was submitted for publication in the Crane Chronicle on May 23 and May 30, 2019, announcing the resignation of Dr. Owen Allphin from the Reeds Spring School District's Board of Education and instructions for filling the vacancy as follows:
At the regular Reeds Spring School Board of Education meeting held on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, the Board of Education accepted a resignation from Dr. Owen Allphin as a Board member dated April 23, 2019.
The Board will now consider the appointment of a candidate to serve in the open position until the next School Board election on April 7, 2020.
Reeds Spring R-IV School District residents wishing to be considered for an appointment to this vacancy must appear in person to complete and sign a Declaration of Candidacy, and submit an Application and a Candidate's Affidavit of Tax Payments and Bonding Requirements (5120) form at the Reeds Spring School District Administrative offices located at 20281 St. Hwy. 413 Street, Reeds Spring, MO, 65737, beginning Tuesday, May 28, 2019, during the office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and ending Friday, June 7, 2019, at 3:00 p.m.

The Board will review all submitted applications. Individuals will be notified by mail if they have been selected to be interviewed during Open Session at the regular Board of Education meeting on June 19, 2019. The Board will then make a determination as to who will be appointed to the vacant position, and he/she will be administered an Oath of Office at the end of the regular Board meeting. Any committee, special, or regular meetings pertaining to this appointment will be published in advance and are open to the public.
State law requires the appointee to submit a personal financial disclosure statement within 30 days to the MO Ethics Commission and to complete Certified Board Member Training as soon as possible following appointment. A training schedule can be accessed on the school’s website.
