Update on Planning for 2020-2021 School Year

July 14, 2020

We understand that many parents and guardians have questions and concerns about the upcoming school year. District leaders want to assure you that plans are being developed that will enable us to resume learning on August 25. While the details of those plans are still being finalized, we want you to know that two options will be available, in-person learning and virtual learning. Surrounding districts in Stone County and Taney County also plan to offer similar opportunities.

Detailed information will be shared with you by the end of the month. The plans will be explained in a way that is easy to follow so you are not overwhelmed by the guidelines and expectations.

The district has formed a task force to develop the reentry plan. This group includes staff members from every building and every department. They are studying guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Stone County Health Department, educational associations, and neighboring school districts.

We are also incorporating feedback from the surveys we sent to families and staff members last week. Those surveys will remain open until July 21. We’ve already received more than 1,000 responses. We will share the results once the survey closes.

In every step of this process, we are guided by our mission, beliefs, and parameters that were established in our Strategic Plan.

We hope you are finding ways to enjoy the summer. We will be in touch with more information very soon!
