Device Distribution

March 26, 2020

Dear Parents and Students,

We hope this information finds you doing well and taking opportunities to bond as a family or support other families during this school closure.  As you heard in Dr. Hirschi’s most recent message, we have extended our break until at least April 24, in conjunction with many surrounding districts.

As a district, although our focus continues to ensure our community and students’ needs are being addressed, we also recognize there is a need for additional structure and support on providing supplemental instructional materials for your children.  Knowing many of the supplemental resources are websites and digital content, we feel it is important to provide easier access for our students to these resources by sending home their school devices (iPads K-2 / Laptops 3-12). On Monday, March 30, we will organize an opportunity for students to pick-up their classroom devices from their building if parents would like them for instructional resources.  These pick-up times at each building will be:

  • 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
  • 4:30-6:30 PM

Please understand all instructional practice at this time is not a requirement for students to complete, but will be optional resources that help reinforce important skills and concepts.  We will be working next week to update our Extended Learning Website to be more detailed in the instructional resources with grade-specific activities and plans. We also understand many homes do not have reliable internet access, so device pick-up is not mandatory and a grade-specific paper resource packet will be created and made available for pick-up each week beginning April 6.

We will also use Monday’s pick-up times as an opportunity for parents to pick-up student medications from the nurse’s office.  More details about device/medication pick-up procedures will be communicated by the building principals prior to Monday’s pick-up times.

We truly appreciate your understanding and support during this school closure.  We understand needs range from family to family and challenging times impact everyone in the household.  If you have individual needs, please contact your building administrators or building counselors. We truly hope to support all needs at this time.

Respectfully,

Travis Kite
