The Table Rock Lake Chamber of Commerce and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library honored Shelby Cook as January’s Teacher of the Month. Cook is a math teacher at Reeds Spring Middle School.
“Since she arrived at the middle school, Shelby has brought a level of passion and genuine love for teaching that is rarely matched,” said principal Dr. Travis Kite. “She truly cares about the students in her class and continually strives to develop their love of math.”
RSMS Principal Dr. Travis Kite praised Cook for her commitment to helping a student who was unable to attend school because of cancer.
“Shelby was a consistent teacher and friend, providing online video instruction while the student was a patient in the hospital or a comforting ear when the child was suffering too much to focus on school work. This relationship provided a bright spot in the day of the child along with a support system for the parents,” Dr. Kite said.
According to her peers, Mrs. Cook is an amazing teacher who goes above and beyond what is expected, continually challenging her students and providing them with a variety of learning experiences. Cook is currently in her sixth year working for the district. She spent four years as a sixth-grade teacher at Reeds Spring Intermediate School and the last two years at RSMS.
