Athletes Stay Busy Over Break

Reeds Spring High School’s basketball and wrestling teams competed in several tournaments over the past two weeks.

The boys basketball team played in Springfield’s Blue and Gold Tournament. The Wolves lost to Mansfield 80-50 and lost to Skyline 76-61. Ty Cooper led the team in scoring with 13 points against Mansfield. Lance Hafar scored 13 against Skyline.

The Wolves also hosted a game against East Newton, defeating the Patriots 71-66. Lance Hafar scored 19 points. The team’s record is currently 3-8.

Girls Basketball

The Lady Wolves competed in the Southwest Holiday Tournament in Washburn. After losing the opening game to East Newton 53-44, RSHS rebounded to defeat Marionville 66-47. Shelby Strailey scored 22 points in the victory. In the fifth-place game, Reeds Spring beat Galena 60-36. Kalena Asbill scored 18 points and was named to the All-Tournament Team.


The RSHS wrestling team traveled to Monett for a tournament on January 5. Eric Holt finished second in the 138-pound weight class and Clayton Johnson was third at 170 pounds. The team was 13th overall.

Two wrestlers participated in the Parkview Girls Invitational. Jaden Bailey earned second place at 110 pounds and Lexi Harris was fifth at 152 pounds.

The team also hosted a match against Glendale and Springfield Central. The Wolves lost to Glendale 53-27 but beat Central 41-26.
