The Reeds Spring School District’s annual food drive helped to feed 83 families. Students, staff, and community members brought in donations throughout the month of November. The food was distributed to families in need on Thursday, December 6.
School counselors selected the families based on forms that were filled out earlier this year. These are families that make too much money to qualify for other assistance, but not enough to feel comfortable buying food and presents at Christmas.
In addition to the non-perishable food that was donated, families also received some perishable items, like eggs and milk. The district purchased these goods with money raised from Trunk or Treat in October, and from staff members paying money to wear jeans to work.
This was the ninth year for the Reeds Spring School District food drive.
