The Table Rock Lake Chamber of Commerce and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library honored Jennifer Noriega as September’s Teacher of the Month. Noriega teaches Culinary Arts at Gibson Technical Center.
“She prepares students for a career in the culinary industry by giving assignments that simulate real-world situations in a kitchen,” said Gibson Tech Director Nick Thieman. “Her students have participated in area career center competitions, taking first place in district four of the past five years, and advancing to the top five in the state competition.”
Noriega has been teaching at Gibson Tech for six years. She also spent 16 years in the culinary field. The Gibson Tech Culinary Arts program was recently named to the “Elite 50” by Sullivan University, an annual award presented to the top high school hospitality programs in the nation.
Here’s what one former student had to say about Mrs. Noriega.
“I took this class to learn how to cook, but have found my passion in food and restaurants, and now, I know I am going to college to do this. I would have never thought about this without your help.”==============================================================
