Wolves Win Boys & Girls District Track & Field Titles

For the third year in a row, Reeds Spring High School's boys track and field team won the district championship. This year, the girls won as well. The meet was held Saturday, May 12 in Mount Vernon. 

Individual winners included Kelly Newton in the 100-meter dash, Kyle Modlin in the triple jump, Paige Rantz in the pole vault, and Rachel Bagg in the 3200-meter run. Three relay teams also won, the boys 4x100-meter relay, the girls 4x100-meter relay, and the girls 4x200-meter relay. 

Several more athletes qualified for the sectional meet by placing in the top three of their event:

Josh Dejarnette in the high jump
Kelly Newton in the long jump and triple jump
Asa Baker in the shot put and discus
Austin Bradfield in the shot put
Colby Dowdy in the 300-meter hurdles and 110-meter hurdles
Nick Huston in the 400-meter dash
Sean Gross in the 800-meter run
Declan Brown in the 3200-meter run
Tara Sampson in the high jump
Izzy Erickson in 100-meter and 200-meter
Rachel Bagg in the 1600-meter
Claire Hornibrook in the 3200-meter
The boys 4x800-meter relay
The boys 4x400-meter relay 
The girls 4x400-meter relay

The sectional will be held Saturday, May 19 in Carthage.
The boys competed in the individual district tournament at Logan-Rogersville High School. Nick Bunch, Cole Crutcher, and John Zachary all won their first-round matches, while Nick Smugala, Parker Maloney, and Carson Hewitt had byes.
During the second round, all players were narrowly defeated, including #1 doubles team of Nick Smugala and Parker Maloney, losing in a tie-breaker during their second set.
This tournament wraps up the season. The Wolves finished with a record of 9-10.
