High School Sports Recap for Week of August 21-26

The Reeds Spring High School softball team is 5-0 after two dramatic wins last week. The Lady Wolves beat Republic for the first time in school history, 2-1. Izzy Erickson set a school record with 15 strikeouts in the game.

The team also defeated Nixa, 14-10. The Lady Wolves trailed 10-3 in the 5th inning but rallied for the win. Mackenzie Duvall recorded her 100th career hit.

RSHS then beat Lamar, 11-0. Erickson got her second shutout of the season and recorded 11 strikeouts. The JV team is also undefeated at 3-0.

The Wolves fell to 0-2 with a 39-28 loss to Cassville. Kelly Newton rushed for 169 yards on 12 carries with 3 touchdowns. Blake Gronvold rushed for 88 yards and one touchdown. On defense, Ben Moler had 18 total tackles.  

The Lady Wolves won the first two matches of the season, defeating Mount Vernon and Seneca. In the Branson Tournament, the team went 1-3, beating South Iron but losing to Rockwood Summit, Carthage, and Fort Zumwalt East.

The girls tennis team lost to Bolivar, Branson, and Willow Springs last week. Seniors Lauren Hustead and Taylor Bullis won their doubles match against Branson. Against Willow Springs, Kennzie Cockrell won her singles match and doubles match with teammate Kayla Coffelt. In the Forsyth Tournament, the team finished fourth.

Cross Country
The Wolves hosted an exhibition meet last week against Branson, Nixa, and Springfield Catholic. The first official meet is September 2 at Strafford.
