Fall Sports Season Begins for Wolves

Reeds Spring High School competes in five sports during the fall; football, softball, girls tennis, volleyball, and cross country.
 
Football
The Wolves lost the season opener to Mount Vernon, 35-20. Quarterback Cole Nordin rushed for two touchdowns and threw a touchdown pass to Logen Plumb. Nordin finished with 227 yards passing. Kelly Newton led the Wolves with 155 yards rushing.
 
On defense, Ben Moler had 11 tackles and one interception. The next game is Friday, August
25 at home against Cassville.
 
Softball
The Lady Wolves won the first two games of the season, defeating Glendale 11-1 and Ava 8-0. Against Glendale, Izzy Erickson had two hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs. Erickson also pitched five innings and gave up just one hit while striking out 11.
 
Against Ava, Abby Rudd and Erickson each had two hits. Erickson gave up only two hits and struck out eight as the pitcher.
 
Girls Tennis
The Lady Wolves lost the opening match of the season to Republic, 9-0. Coach Rob Marshall said the team showed poise and determination, and that there are plenty of good things to build upon for the rest of the season.
 
Volleyball
The season begins Tuesday, August 22 at Mount Vernon. The Lady Wolves will host Seneca on August 24 and compete in the Branson Tournament on August 26.
 
Cross Country
The season begins Tuesday, August 22 with a home meet.
