Mrs. Andrea Chavez Named Principal at Intermediate School

Mrs. Andrea Chavez has been named principal of Reeds Spring Intermediate School. Chavez began working for the district in 2004 and has served as the elementary activities director, a special education teacher, and assistant middle school principal. Becoming principal has been a goal for Chavez since she began teaching.

“I had the privilege of working under some great principals and teacher leaders, and felt I could make more of an impact on the lives of our students by becoming an administrator,” Chavez said.

Chavez grew up in the area and graduated from Reeds Spring High School. She believes the relationships she has formed with people in the community will be beneficial.

“I plan to increase community support within not just our building, but our district by strengthening those school-community relationships,” Chavez said.

She also has goals for the students and staff.

“We plan to put a huge focus on encouraging kindness and not accepting negative behaviors that cause stress and feelings of not wanting to be at school,” Chavez said.

Chavez said she genuinely enjoys working with fifth-and sixth-grade students. She feels her experience at RSMS will help create a smooth transition for students as they move from the Intermediate School to Middle School.
