RSHS to Send Six to Boys and Girls State

Reeds Spring High School will send six students to participate in this summer's American Legion Missouri Boys State and Missouri Girls State. This is an eight-day hands-on experience in the operation and fundamentals of government. The three boys attending are Justin Bible, Austin Bradfield, and Calvin Rasmussen. The three girls attending are Bailey Locke, Kate O'Connor, and Hanna Perez.

Boys State and Girls State draws together the best and brightest high school juniors from around Missouri to help lead them down the path of individual success and leadership through “doing," not just learning. Participants, or citizens, are equipped each year to construct their own government, utilizing the core values that hold true in everyday life. Citizens of the Boys State and Girls State programs are eligible to receive college credit and scholarships for participating and successfully completing the week-long experience.

Bible, Bradfield, and Rasmussen will be among the more than 1,000 young men to attend the 78th session of Boys State at the University of Central Missouri campus during the week of June 17-24.

Locke, O’Connor, and Perez will be among the more than 800 young women from across Missouri to participate in the 76th session of Missouri Girls State, also held on the campus of the University of Central Missouri during the week of June 25-July 1.
