RSHS Sports Roundup for February 8-13

The Reeds Spring Wolves boys and girls basketball teams and wrestling team were all in action last week.

The varsity boys fell to Rogersville 68-54 on Tuesday and Forsyth 67-56 on Friday. Jarod Cole’s 25 and 26-point outings were not enough. Despite the two losses, the Wolves are 14-9 on the season and will host Hollister on Tuesday before traveling to Bolivar on Friday. 
 
The junior varsity boys lost to Rogersville 48-45 and defeated Forsyth 49-46, and are now 10-3 on the season.

The varsity girls participated in the Seymour Invitational last week, losing to state-ranked Walnut Grove 62-28, Morrisville 63-32, and Bakersfield 44-27. Caitlin Gault scored a combined 30 points over the first two games and was named to the All-Tournament team. The Lady Wolves will host Bolivar on Monday and Rogersville on Thursday.

The Wolves wrestling team traveled to Bolivar on Saturday for the Class 2 District 3 meet and brought home two district champions. #1 ranked 195-pounder Broden LeMaster remains undefeated on the season, after notching three pins in the tournament to improve to 22-0. His three pins all came in the first period. 
 
At 120 pounds, the Wolves' Matt Kahnert improved to 34-10 on the season with his district championship, hoisting the gold medal after two pins and a decision. 
 
Briar Crain (113 lbs.) fell one win short of the state tournament, finishing his season 25-13 after
losing a 7-2 decision in the consolation semifinals. 
 
The state wrestling tournament will be held at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, MO from February 18-20.
