Paraprofessional Cheryl Huff Earns Excellence Award for October

One of the most impactful things an educator can do for students is to instill a love of reading. Cheryl Huff has done that so many times, she was an obvious choice to receive October’s Excellence Award from Reeds Spring Schools.

“Mrs. Huff has this calm, sweet demeanor about her that makes every child feel loved in her presence,” said teacher Dawn Schade.

Huff is a paraprofessional who works in the library at Reeds Spring Elementary School. She has worked for Reeds Spring Schools for 22 years.

In addition to her work in the library, Mrs. Huff often checks in with students at the beginning of the day and checks on them again at the end of the day.

“I have repeatedly seen her walk a student through their day praising them on the good parts and discussing the correct path when they went astray,” Schade said. “This is always done in such a way that love just flows out of her!”

Reeds Spring Excellence Awards are new this year. They replaced the former Employee of the Month Award and the nomination process is now open to students, staff, parents, and the community.
