Mrs. Alison Crane Named Teacher of the Year

The Table Rock Lake Chamber of Commerce and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library honored Mrs. Alison Crane as the 2019 Teacher of the Year. Crane teaches English Language Arts at Reeds Spring Middle School.

“She (Crane) constantly seeks to learn more about each of her students so she can help them in the learning process,” said RSMS Principal Casey Carpenter. “If a student needs more support on a given learning target, Mrs. Crane engages in purposeful conversation tailored to his or her needs.”

This is Crane’s fifth year at Reeds Spring. Her ability to build relationships with students acts as a foundation for the small-group and individual instruction she methodically weaves into her lessons.

“Every day as students enter her classroom, Mrs. Crane presents a question of the day,” Carpenter said. “This is one strategy to get to know students, while at the same time getting them into the mindset to think and learn.”

In addition to providing the necessary support to her students, Crane is an incredible leader to other teachers. She has been a mentor for new educators coming into the district, and she often opens her classroom for observation. She recently was a featured speaker at the National Council of Teachers of English Annual Convention.
