District Seeking Bus Drivers

Bus drivers are often the unsung heroes of a school district. It is their great responsibility to safely transport students to and from school each day. The Reeds Spring School District is looking for a few good drivers.

“Drivers are often the first school representative a student sees each morning and the last representative they see each night,” said Reeds Spring School District Director of Operations Steve Verheyen. “It can be very rewarding to get to know students, parents, and neighbors.”

To be a bus driver, you must have a Class B commercial driver’s license with an “S” endorsement and a “P” endorsement. The district needs drivers for morning and afternoon routes, for taking students to after-school activities, and substitute drivers are needed to fill in on occasion.

“Reeds Spring bus drivers navigate lake-area roads,” Verheyen said. “They take special care ensuring younger students have a parent or guardian present before being released at a bus stop. Most parents can appreciate the need to drive cautiously, especially as we enter the tourism seasons in this region. Our drivers use the utmost care in anticipation of visitors seeing our community for the first time. They provide courteous, safe, confident driving that ensures our students safely arrive at school and home each day.”
